It was always her favorite library. It wasn't biggest or anything, but it was quiet, and had so many book and resources, it would make your head spin. Madison might have been a little bias though. Her Governor often required her to be in the capitol city, so Maddie had to find things to do. More often then not, it was either a concert, music festival, or the library.

Unfortunately for her, she was too short to reach the book on the high shelf that she wanted. But rather then fetch a librarian, she attempted to find a step stool. And when THAT adventure came up with nothing, she decided that her purple scarf would make a perfect lasso!

Pierre was smoking outside the library, relaxing and doing absolutely nothing. He was just killing time before he had to go back home. It wasn't often that he crossed the border, but sometimes his boss just had to make him. Since he couldn't really disobey (complain, yes), he visited Michigan. When business was done, he was found lazing around instead of heading straight home or calling his boss to report in.

Finishing his cigarette, he got up and decided to head into the library. Bah, why not? He figured as he walked into the quiet place without any particular purpose. Pierre rounded the aisles aimlessly until he found Madison struggling to get a book ... with a very strange (but albeit ingenious) method. Pierre was almost going to praise the girl, but the way she was doing it would make the shelves fall over instead. As much as he'd find that entertaining, Pierre might just feel a little guilty seeing it happen without as much as trying to help. Besides, Madison might get caught in the fall.

"Michi, mais qu'est-ce que tu fais là?" He asked, approaching her and putting a hand on her shoulder. "What are you doing?"

The little State was startled, so when she threw her make-shift lasso, it did nothing.
"Ah! Beccy!" He covered her grinning mouth shortly after, remembering the quiet rule. Her little body swiveled to hug her half-brother ( Or at least, that's what she called him) around his waist. "What're you doing here in Lansing?" She asked, though she could probably guess. He jumped away, reminded of his beginning question. Her mittens where off and dangling off her sleeves, so she was able to point to the red bound book on the high shelf.

"I was trying to get that book off... but I couldn't find a stool."

The Frenchman sighed at the nickname but didn't reproach the girl for it. He gave the young state a pat on the head. "Usual business." He answered in a more or less present accent. When Madison pulled away, Pierre shifted his weight on his left foot and crossed his arms.

He looked up to where Madison was pointing. "This one?" Pierre asked as he reached out for the book.

"Yeah! " she smiled and watched him pull the book down so easily. When did he get so tall? A lot of her Hafl-Brothers seemed tall... maybe they got it from Mommy Matty. Hm.

She shook off her thoughts and stood on the toes of her pink books, trying to see the title. She hadn't seen the title, the color of the book just drew her childish eyes to it.

"What's it say, what's it say?"

Pierre took out the book and stared at the title for a while. He raised a brow, wondering what on earth Madison would want with a book like THIS. She was much too young to be aware of such inappropriate things. Though, keeping those such things away from the little state wasn't his responsibility.

"Are you sure you want this book, chère?" He asked, for good measure. "T'es peut-être trop jeune pour ceçi ma p'tite." (You're maybe a little too young for this, little one)

Madison's french was lacking severely, (Daddy said that she shouldn't learn it.) but she caught what sounded like trop and petite. Too small? Too young. Curiosity over came her and she stood up more on her very tipsy toes.
"Eh? Why? What is it?" Her nose was just barely able to reach his lowered arm. Why was she so short, anyway? "I dunno, it was red, I guessed it was suppose to be read." She giggled slightly at her own, accidently rumor.

The province looked at the book cover again and opened the book to see exactly was was inside, ignoring the little girl's futile attempts at reaching what he was holding. He flipped through the pages, completely unfazed by what he saw inside. Hm, it wasn't that bad. Well, maybe bad for a child but ...

Pierre ruffled Madison's hair and smiled. "Hmm, Michi. Has that moron Amérique ever told you about what adults do when they are alone together?"

He closed the book and held in his left hand. "Would you like me to tell you?" He grinned. There was nothing wrong in teaching a child what she will learn soon enough, non?

The little brunette regained her normal height, standing flat on her feet again. She shook her head.
"No, Daddy says I'm too young. " Her face went into a little pout. Even though she was one hundred and seventy two. When Pierre offered to tell her, her face lit up and she nodded vigorously, " Yeah! Yeah! Er..." she paused, " We! See vu play?"

Pierre gave a laugh and ruffled the girl's hair again. "Good kid. Curiosity is a good thing." He said. "Let's go find a quiet spot and look through this book then, alright?"

The blond handed the book over the Michi and held a hand out for her to take. "I'll answer any question you've got without abridging. You won't hear any lies from these lips, chère."

She took his hand happily, and then the book, her eyes dropping to read over the title.

Let's Have Sex on Mars

She tilted her head out of curiosity. She has heard the word before, but whenever she asked, somebody either told her they'd tell her when she was older, or threw their hands over her ears. Without hesitating, she asked,

"Beccy, what's sex?" Probably a little loudly to be asking in a drop-a-pen-silent library, but, nevertheless.

The Frenchman found a nice quiet spot by the window and let go of Maddie's hand to allow her to sit. He took the seat beside her and rested his chin on the back of his hand as he pondered on how to answer the young girl's question.

"Well you see," Pierre started. "Sex is something people do when two people are attracted to each other." Note how he said 'attracted' and not 'loved'. To explain, he opened the book to a page displaying the missionary position. "It works basically like this, see?" He continued. "A man shoves his cock in to a woman's hole, and that's the bases of it."

Madison tilted her head to the left, looking at the picture. Instead of the typical child reaction one would expect, she giggled, and quiet innocently too.
"They look happy. " She kicked her legs, as they didn't quite reach the floor from the chair.

She gained another curious look and looked at Beccy again. "... Men carry chickens with them?"

He smiled. "Of course. Sex is meant to feel good."

Pierre waved his hand in front of him. "Non, non." He said. "Not chickens." He flipped through the pages of the book and found a dick and pointed at it. "This. It is part of the male's genitalia. Otherwise know as dick, penis and so on and so forth." He explained mechanically.

Hm, I'm surprised at how I don't know many synonyms for the work 'dick' ... -fail-

Madison blinked, taking a moment to process it, and stuck out her tongue, as if she had just tasted something bad. " Ew. That looks icky." She looked back up, "All boys have one?" How did those not get annoying?

"You're a cute kid, you know that?" Pierre laughed and ruffled the girl's hair again. "All men are born with one. I think we'd be more 'annoyed' if we woke up one day and found out it was gone, oui?"

He leaned back on the seat. "Ne t'en fais pas, chère. Don't worry." He laughed again. "There'll be a day you'll stop thinking their icky."

Her tongue quickly hid itself and a smile was put in it's place at the word cute. Yeah, she'd been told before.

"I 'unno.... Enny says it's good," She trailed off. She had heard New York talk about his exploits with Richy often. "And you say it's good... So, I guess it is. Why would they lie? Beccy especially.

Too young? Everybody said that. But at the same time, she could talk through downtown Detroit and nobody ever even looked at her funny.

"Izzat a double standard...?" She asked, as if her Half-Brother could read her thought and following along with her logic.
