The Incest Factor
All right. The fact that some people view all the states/provinces/English counties (once we get more of them) as siblings may squick a few people, especially since we've gotten R-18 so quickly .
Personally, before this forum, I didn't really view states as related to each other. It was the same idea as the countries. You know? Roderich, Ludwig, and Vash are all in close proximity, and speak the same language, but they're not... related.
We've had this forum for a couple of days and already everyone seems to hold with siblings. It's very OOC for Al to be anyone's dad (he's barely a mature character in canon), so I'm finding it difficult to RP him as one. It's kind of late for me to be saying these things, really...
Opinions?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
I guess I always did think of Hetalia characters as siblings.
So I got over the squick, at least in this fandom, pretty quickly.
Of course, if it really does become difficult or gross to be everyone's dad, you can always pretend to be the big-brother boss-person instead.
~~~my opinion may change, though, as far as the squick. I do admit that I don't like reading descriptions of what people are doing "to their brother" or "to their sister". It might be better if, when describing such things, we used "to him" or "to her" so as not to so blatantly be incestuous.
We'll see what the general response on this topic is, though, and I'll set up a poll based on it if we need to change things. <3
Re: The Incest Factor
I view it as a kind of likethe way Alfred and Iggy are brothers. Adoption.
Re: The Incest Factor
Alfred never called Iggy 'daddy,' though. D8 Honestly, I'd like it if everyone just called me 'Al.'
Re: The Incest Factor
Ahh some are siblings, like the UK family, Prussia/Germany, and Iceland/Norway
they've directly descended from one another?
but honestly, neither cest really bother me
I don't consider any of the states and provinces like blood siblings
well the Rupert 5 somewhat because they were all one area?
More like they're all adopted
for parentage, you're the father figure Al
as scary as that is.
It's your own damn fault for adopting so many Alfred.
I always considered them by blood... orz
Though I can see the adoption side of the argument. But they'll probably be states I always consider blood related, like NY and Maine. But, like, Nevada and Michigan probably aren't.
I 'unno. I never considered most of the countries siblings, but the states all share a common "Father" (Here's lookin' at you Al!) So I kind of assumed if they all had the same father, they where at least somewhat related.
Re: The Incest Factor
Yeah NY I think would be blood related while some aren't...which would really help his superiority complex over his siblings I think :'D
Maybe we should all think awhile and decide if our state is blood related or not?
I imagine most of the like...Original states, like ones that were discovered first (Loose terms) would be blood related (like NY and MA) but other later states (Like Hawaii) wouldn't.
But then you run into a problem with that theory because of California..since she and NY are twins .____.
Re: The Incest Factor
Personally, I don't mind the 'cest factor, but I must admit that the idea of them all being related didn't really cross my mind.
When I did my previous RP of the state-tan, a select few were related (like NY and NJ) but overall they weren't related. If anything, family would be a title I could see Al using to unite them and invite them to be closer.
I'll go with whatever people prefer-- but I definitely think that ICly some of the characters*coughconnecticutcough* would feel extremely uncomfortable doing R-18 stuff with a 'brother', even if they cared for that sibling in that way.
I'm not really bothered about incest in this fandom.
